The Spirit of the Open Source Manifesto

This code of conduct is based on KaiYuanShe’s"Open Source People's Manifesto"The spirit applies to all occasions managed by KaiYuanShe, including WeChat, public and private mailing lists, wikis, blogs and any other communication channels used by our community, as well as direct or indirect interpersonal interactions in live events (i.e. conferences).

Open Source Manifesto

Everyone who takes part in KaiYuanShe activities, formally or informally, must follow this Code of Conduct. This is especially important when representing KaiYuanShe in any role.

This Code cannot cover every situation. It reflects our shared view of respectful collaboration and a healthy community. We ask every member to follow both its words and its spirit.

Unacceptable Behavior

We want our community to stay free, open, and built on trust. A long list of rules should not be necessary, but the following behavior is not welcome at KaiYuanShe or in any open source community:

  • Words and actions that are inconsistent with the laws or social norms of the country
  • Threats or language of violence directed at others
  • Sexist, racist or other discriminatory jokes and language
  • Post pornographic or violent material or content

Implementation and handling measures

We firmly believe that in the KaiYuanShe community, every member has good intentions and is committed to building together. In order to maintain the healthy development of the Kaiyuan Community and the common interests of all members, we have formulated this Code of Conduct. We firmly believe that prevention and education are better than punishment, but for any confirmed violations of this Code of Conduct, the KaiYuanShe Board of Directors reserves the right to take measures it deems necessary to maintain the safety and dignity of the community.

1. Feedback process

We encourage anyone to report any violations they experience or witness. Feedback can be sent via email to the designated Board email address:Or other channels officially announced by KaiYuanShe. We will keep the feedback information strictly confidential and provide support to members who need help.

2. Investigation and processing

Once feedback is received, the Council will initiate an investigation process. The entire process will be conducted in a fair, confidential and timely manner. Based on the findings and the severity of the violation, possible actions target two categories of objects: identity and permissions.

Applicable objects include:

  • Identity:Including but not limited to official members of the KaiYuanShe, working group members/leaders, project maintainers, board members, consultants, and anyone holding other formal positions in the KaiYuanShe.
  • Permissions:Including but not limited to permissions on various platforms and occasions managed by KaiYuanShe, such as:
    • Participation and management rights in social communication platforms (such as speech and member management rights for mailing lists, WeChat groups, etc.).
    • Access, submission, review and maintenance permissions for code repositories (such as GitHub/Gitee organization member permissions).
    • Content editing and publishing permissions for official wikis, blogging platforms, and websites.
    • Planning and management rights for event organization platforms (such as conferences and Meetups).

  • Corrections and warnings:For first-time violations that are minor and non-malicious, a private warning, a request to remove inappropriate content, and an apology are usually given.
  • Suspend positions and permissions:Violators are required to suspend their community positions within a certain period of time (for example, 30 days to 90 days) and freeze corresponding platform permissions.
  • Temporary ban:Cancel all participation rights and job status in the community within a specific period (for example, 6 months to 1 year).
  • Permanent ban:For serious violations, malicious behavior, persistent behavior, or behavior that poses a major threat to community security, the community will immediately and permanently revoke all their job identities and platform permissions, and terminate their official association with KaiYuanShe.

3. Principles of hierarchical processing

Treatment measures will follow the principle of proportionality and take into account the following factors:

  • The severity and impact of the behavior.
  • Is it a first offense or a repeat offender?
  • Whether the offender shows remorse and proactively remediates the violation.
  • Whether the conduct caused a significant insult to community members or collective honor.
  • Whether the behavior poses a direct threat to community members or collective safety.

4. Grievance mechanism

If the party concerned has objections to the decision, he or she may submit a written appeal to the designated appeal email address or the board of directors within 15 days after receiving the decision notice, stating the reasons and providing new evidence. The Council will reconsider and make a final decision.

5. Handling special situations

  • Emergency:For ongoing serious violations (such as harassment, threats), the Board of Directors has the right to take immediate interim measures and make subsequent investigation procedures.
  • Organization Representative:Members who participate in external activities in the name of KaiYuanShe will be severely punished in accordance with this Code for their violations.
